Mental Health Sanitation Model Successfully launched by Olddrift Initiative
This innovative model was locally developed and launched on 25th November 2021 at Linda Clinic in Livingstone to address the persistent and ever-increasing problem of people living with mental health conditions being neglected in the streets, communities and at household level in Livingstone, Zimba and Kazungula districts of Zambia.
Her Worship the Mayor of Livingstone city and District Health Director for Livingstone were present to officiate the launch.

Raising Above Mental Health Disability
Neglected and homeless person with mental health conditions in Livingstone raises above his mental challenge to showcase his skill of making toy bicycles. This was on 22/11/2021 when Olddrift Initiative visited him at his open location in the the street where he is always found.
He said that he sells these toy bicycles at K20 each to feed himself but has no enough capital to buy materials to make more toy bicycles.

The Harsh Effects of Stigma and Discrimination against People with Mental Health Conditions
He is homeless now and has no food. He shares with Olddrift Initiative a touching story of how his relatives have rejected him because of his mental illness. This place was his home come rain or scorching heat as had nowhere to go.

Olddrift Initiative Acquires Land
Our organisation was recently been empowered with 21.7 hectares of land 15km east of Livingstone by our local traditional leadership (His Royal Majesty Chief Mukuni) to facilitate undertaking of our planned holistic community psychosocial rehabilitation programs in Livingstone district

When Society Shuns Away from Taking Responsibility
Mental health client narrating how his family members have rejected him, how poverty has severely challenged him and how this tree has become his home. He said at first he used to stay in the bush near
Nakatindi grave yard but when he was chased he came into the streets of Livingstone and Mosi-oa-tunya road being the commonest place where he is found.
He said he would be grateful to be given food as he was usually hungry and no one seemed to be concerned about his welfare.
Am sure the appearance of his body and the state of his clothes prove to everyone the degree of negligence and social rejection society has imposed on this client.
As the saying goes, ‘everyone can be great because everyone can serve’. Let us all get involved in making sure that such clients are economically supported and empowered so that they can live an
independent and dignified life in their communities. This photo was taken on 26/07/20

Neglected, Homeless And Hungry Mental Health Client Receives Food From Olddrift Initiative
As the saying goes, ‘It is not about the massiveness of the crowed that counts, but the number of individuals within the crowed willing to help.’
This is at Livingstone bus station where there are a lot of capable people, yet this mental health client was languishing in poverty due to his mental health condition. He was Hungary yet he sat next to a restaurant where people where buying and eating food.
No one bothered to buy this vulnerable and socially excluded client food until we came to his rescue. Indeed stigma is the waste enemy we all must fight regardless of where it happens, who does it and/or
who the victim is. This photo was taken on 01/08/2020
